EcoQuest is free to start. The Explorer Trail includes ten zones, with Xochimilco at zone 10, followed by Explorer Trail mastery. It is free to play, with no purchase and no account payment required. Clearing Xochimilco awards the Xochimilco axolotl Legendary; mastery can award the Giant Armadillo and Black Rhinoceros Legendaries.
The four paid expeditions are one-time purchases. They are not subscriptions: you pay once, the complete expedition entitlement unlocks in your account, and there is no recurring charge.
The expeditions
Each paid expedition is an ordered ten-stop mystery trail. Stop 1 is available immediately; finding and clearing each stop opens the next. The purchase contents are fixed and listed here—the mystery presentation changes gameplay discovery, not what you bought.

Each expedition also includes one completion-gated mastery challenge (five map pins and ten questions) and three named Legendary rewards:

Forests of the World: Malayan Sun Bear, Kodkod, Grizzled Tree Kangaroo.

Sunlit Waters: Hippopotamus, Gharial, Elkhorn Coral.
•
The Wild Ocean: Peruvian Anchoveta, Sunflower Sea Star, Bowhead Whale.
•
Peaks, Plains & Deserts: White-backed Vulture, Przewalski’s Horse, Mountain Tapir.
The first Legendary is awarded after all ten zones in that expedition are cleared. The other two are awarded by improving the mastery score. Mastery and all three rewards are included in the one-time expedition price.
What it costs
The price depends on how many expeditions you unlock, not which ones. Pick any expeditions you like — the tier is set by the count.
You can buy incrementally over time, and you never pay twice for an expedition you already own. If you own some expeditions and add more, you pay only the difference to reach the next tier. Every path to owning all four expeditions totals exactly US$12.99 — buy the full set at once or add expeditions one at a time; the total is the same either way.
The full US$12.99 bundle unlocks the four expeditions listed above. Future expeditions, if we add them, are sold separately.
Taxes, currency and receipts
Prices are shown in US dollars. Your final price at checkout may include local sales tax or VAT depending on where you are, and may be shown in your local currency.
Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle charges you, handles applicable taxes, and emails your receipt. Your card or bank statement will show a charge from Paddle (or "Paddle.net"), not from EcoQuest directly.
